<br />1: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANU~Y 26, 1960 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, January 26, 1960, at 6:30 P.M., all meni:>ers being present, <br /> <br />as follows: Mayor and CounciJJnan John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E.E. <br /> <br />Stone; and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, Clarence C. Donavant, and J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />,.-.-. <br />J <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br />held January 12, 1960. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and unanimously carried, and in compliance with appli- <br />cable provisions of Chapter 11 of the City Charter, Council adopted the ordimnce, <br />as placed on first reading December 22, 1959, calling for a sewer bond referendmn <br />on March 1, 1960, which ordinance is entitled, "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE <br />ISSUAl'CE OF $2,500,000 OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILIE TO FINANJE THE COST <br />OF ThlPROVING THE CITY'S SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM AND PROVIDING FCR THE SUBMISSION <br />OF THE QUF1)TION OF ISSUING SAID BONDS TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITYlI. <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />Council continued for further study, pending their viewing of certain premises <br />involved, Jroposed arrendments to the City's "Animals and Fowl" section (Chapter 2) <br />of the City Code. <br /> <br />In acceding to the recent request of Mr. Willis C. Milton that he not be considered <br /> <br />for reappointment to membership on the Human Values Commission at the expiration <br /> <br />of his current term on January 31, 1960, Council appointed Mr. Brooks R. Ieavitt <br /> <br />to succeed Mr. Milton and reappointed Mrs. Anne F. Zachary to succeed herself, <br /> <br />both for three-year terms errling January 31, 1963. <br />
