<br />" <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 28. 1Q52 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Ha.rtinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall , Tuesday, July 28, 1959, at 6 :30 P. H., the follmling members being <br /> <br />present: Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. <br /> <br />Stone; and Councilman Clarence C. Donavant. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held July 14, 1959. <br /> <br />The proposed gas utility franchise ordinance, as placed on first reading July <br />14, 1959, was placed on second reading. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst asked for, and Council granted, additional time for the <br /> <br />preparation and presentation of information requested by Council preparatory <br /> <br />to possibly calling for a S~lerage System Improvement Bond Election at the <br /> <br />forthcoming November 3rd general election. <br /> <br />.,-.. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst announced that the public auction to offer City Hall <br />(Mtmicipal Building) for sale, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 8, <br />1959, at 2:30 P. M., has been postponed. <br /> <br />,.- <br /> <br />~ letter, various owners of property located on the east side of Cleveland <br />Avenue between Church and Brown Streets (Mrs. John W. SLTJ1Inons, Mr. and Mrs. <br />Ernest Frith, Mrs. Louise Rinnner, Mrs. Mamie Iambeth, Hrs. Freda Worthington, <br />and Mr. A. G. Drewry) requested that Council establish a ten-foot set-back <br />on said east side within that block of Cleveland Avenue. These property owners <br />also registered their objection to the establishing of a twenty-one-or-thirty-foot <br />set-back to which the owners of property at 15 Cleveland Avenue have already agreed. <br />
