<br />168 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 9. 1965 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Counci 1 of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, November 9, <br /> <br /> <br />1965, in ~he Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members <br /> <br /> <br />being present, viz., M~or J. Frank Wilson; Dr. F. T. Renick, Vice Mayor; <br /> <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held October 26, 1965. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's reports dated November 9, <br /> <br />1965, Council directed that duly-advertised public hearings be conducted by <br /> <br />Council, in its Council Chamber, at its regular meeting to be held Tuesday, <br /> <br />December -14, 1965, on the following proposed amendments to the City r s Zoning <br />Code: <br /> <br />(1) To rezone from "R-9 Residential" to "C-3 Commercial" all properties <br /> <br /> <br />(not already so zoned) fronting the east side of Chatham Road <br /> <br />between East Church Street and a lot identified as "Lot No.8" <br /> <br /> <br />between Bob Gregory and Blankenship Streets, which would include <br /> <br />Lots Nos. 4, 5, and 6 of the Longview Subdivision referred to in <br /> <br /> <br />petition of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Donavant and in Council's <br /> <br /> <br />minutes of October 12, 1965; <br />(2) To rezone from "R-6 Residentiali' to "M- 3 Industrial" that tract <br /> <br />of land, consisting of approximately nineteen acres, owned by <br /> <br />W. M. Bassett Furniture Company and located between Pace Street <br /> <br />and the Norfolk & Western Railway Company's right-of-way adjacent <br /> <br />to the present plant of W. M. Bassett Furniture Company, excepting <br /> <br />that an area between the northeast line of Forest Street and a <br />
