<br />74 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 9, 1965 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 9, <br /> <br />1965, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, with all <br /> <br />members being present with the exception of Vice-Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., <br /> <br />who was absent because of continuing illness, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, the Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held February 23, 1965, and of its special meeting held <br /> <br />March 5, 1 965 . <br /> <br />By letter dated March 5, 1965, the Planning Commission reported that, in <br /> <br />considering the petition recently submitted by the Piedmont Trust Bank, <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning froTI "R-9 Hesidential" to "P-1 Professional" of <br /> <br />the Schottland Apartment property on the south side of East Church Street <br /> <br />(between Starling Avenue and Oakdale Street), and having conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the petition (including an advertised proposal to rezone all <br /> <br />propertie;3 fronting the south side of this street--not already so zoned-- <br /> <br />to "P-1 P:::-ofessional"), the Commission recommended the rezoning of all <br />~.t-; ..dl <br />propertie;3 fronting the south side of this^ wi thin the block, to "P-1 <br /> <br />Professional". Council, thereupon, in accepting the Commission's <br /> <br />recommendation, called for a duly-advertised public hearing on same to <br /> <br />be conducted by Council at its forthcoming April 13th meeting. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission, also by letter dated March 5, 1965, recommended <br /> <br />the granting of rezoning petition submitted to Council on January 26, <br /> <br />1965, by Attorney William F. Stone on behalf of Evelyn H. 'Stone, Trustee, <br /> <br />which would classify as "M-3 Industrial" the seventy-eight-acre tract <br />
