<br />3f <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br />-- <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 23, 1965 <br /> <br />,~ <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, February <br /> <br />23, 1965, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, with all <br /> <br />members being present--with the exception of Dr. Fred T. Renick, who was <br /> <br />absent because of illness--as follows: Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Hary L. Boaz; <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held February 9, 1965. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted public hearings <br /> <br />on the following individual proposals: <br /> <br />(1) To zone that area annexed to the City as of January 1, 1965, <br /> <br />in accordance with the Planning Commission's recommendation <br /> <br />dated January 26, 1965; <br /> <br />(2) To rezone from "R-9 Hesidential" to "P-1 Professional" that <br /> <br />property located at 412 East Church Street, owned by Dr. F. T. 11.enick; <br /> <br />(J) To perIni t "personal service" occupations in a "P-2 Professional" <br /> <br />district and to permit music studios and dance studios in a "C-2 <br /> <br />Commercial" district; and <br />(4) To rezone from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 Professional" those <br /> <br />properties known as the Burch property and the J. W. Townes <br /> <br />property, located at 305 East Church street and 307 East Church <br /> <br />Street, respectively. <br /> <br />No opposition to any of these proposals was registered with Counci~ however, <br /> <br />Attorney M. Harrison Joyce, representing residents of Scuffle Hill, asked for-and <br /> <br />received--confirmation of the terms agreed to by Mr. & Mrs. Robert K. Kitson, as <br /> <br />cited in Council1s minutes of January 26, 1965, in connection with the Townes <br /> <br />property at 307 East Church Street, now owned by the Kitsons. Upon separate <br />
