<br />motions, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following
<br />
<br />ordinances effecting the foregoing proposals (zoning, rezoning, and amendments
<br />
<br />to the Zoning Code):
<br />
<br />(1) BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville,
<br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third
<br />day of February, 1965, that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map
<br />of the City of Martinsville be, and are hereby amended and
<br />revised to provide that the area annexed to the City of
<br />Martinsville as of January 1, 1965 be zoned as follows:
<br />
<br />(a) All that area on the south and east sides of
<br />Sam Lion Trail and its proposed extension is
<br />hereby zoned lIR-16 11.esidentiaJ.11; and
<br />
<br />(b) All that area on the north and west sides of
<br />Sam Lion Trail and its proposed extension is
<br />hereby zoned "R-9 Residentialll.
<br />
<br />(2) BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville,
<br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third
<br />day of February, 1965, that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map
<br />of the City of Martinsville be, and are hereby, amended to
<br />classify--for zoning purposes--as lIP_1 Professionalll that
<br />property located at 412 East Church Street and owned by
<br />Dr. F. T. Renick.

<br />(4) BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville,
<br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third
<br />day of February, 1965, that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map
<br />of the City of Martinsville be, and are hereby, amended to
<br />classify--for zoning purposes--as "P-2 Professional" those
<br />properties known as the Burch property and the J. W. Townes
<br />property located at 305 East Church Street and 307 East
<br />Church Street, respectively.

<br />Supplementing Council's action of December 15, 1964, wherein by resolution
<br />
<br />the Council requested the Virginia Department of Highways to relocate a
<br />
<br />portion of Route 57, the Council adopted the following resolution assuring
<br />
<br />the Highway Department of the City's financial participation (12+% of total
<br />
<br />estimated cost of $3,000.00) in the cost of a study directed to this end:
