<br />31 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 25, 1964 <br /> <br />The regula.r semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D., presiding in the absence of <br /> <br />Mayor J. Frank Wilson, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, <br /> <br />August 25, 1964, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members--with the exception <br /> <br />of Mayor lIfilson--being present, viz., Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, JIIl.D.; <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held August 11, 1964. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the petition of Mr. Preston R. Graham, requesting the rezoning to IIC-3 <br /> <br />Commercialll of Lots Nos. 4, 5, and 6, owned by Mr. Graham and located between <br /> <br />the east side of Liberty Street and the west boundary of Roselawn Cemetery <br /> <br />property. Noting that no oLe present registered any objections to the <br /> <br />requested rezoning, Council unanimously accepted the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />conditional approval of Mr. Graharn's request, as recorded in Council's minutes <br /> <br />of August 11, 1964, by adopting the following ordinance amending the City's <br /> <br />Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifty day of August, 1964, <br />that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville by <br />and is hereby amended so as to re-classify to--and effect--a IIC-3 <br />COIT@ercial" zoning classification of that property consisting of <br />LDts Nos. 4, 5, and 6, owned by Mr. Preston R. Graham and fronting <br />on Liberty Street, between the east side of said Liberty Street <br />and the west boundary of Roselawn Cemetery property, which <br />classification shall apply to all said lots with the exception of a <br />twenty-five-foot strip of land, in width, extending along the rear <br />of said lots and being parallel with the west boundary of said <br />Roselawn Cemetery property. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Attorney Cubine, Council deferred final action on <br /> <br />the bond referendum ordinance introduced July 28, 1964, pending confirmation <br /> <br />of certain minor details in connection therewith by the City's bond attorneys. <br />
