<br />2~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br />-- <br /> <br />JUNE 9. 1964 <br /> <br />f'-- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, June 9, 1964, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members were present, <br /> <br />viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />"...-- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held May 26, 1964. <br /> <br />As a matter of record, City Manager Hirst called Council's attention to the proposed <br /> <br />budget now before Council and to the public hearing on the budget scheduled for <br /> <br />Tuesday, June 16, 1964. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that the recent rate changes in Appalachian <br /> <br />Power Company's electric tariffs, as approved by the State Corporation Commission, <br /> <br />should reduce the annual cost of electric energy purchased by the City from <br /> <br />Appalachian by some $47,000.00, and that the 1964-65 City Budget, when adopted, <br /> <br />should reflect this reduction as well as a corresponding reduction in the Electric <br /> <br />Fund's estimate of revenue from sale of electric energy. In keeping with a <br /> <br />long-standing policy, Council directed that the City's electric tariffs also be <br /> <br />revised to parallel Appalachian's new tariffs and, by the following ordinance, <br /> <br />amended the Electric Department's tariffs accordingly: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR <br />THE OPERATION OF THE ELECTRIC UTILITY SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this ninth day of June, 1964, that the ordinance <br />entitled IIAn Ordinance Prescribing Rules and Regulations for the Operation <br />of the Electric Utility System, Hereinafter for Purposes of Brevity <br />Referred to as the Department or the Department of Electricity, of the <br />
