<br />23 <br /> <br />THURSDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 27, 1964 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Thursday, February 27, 1964, beginning at 12:30 P.M., and with all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick; Harry <br /> <br />L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Mayor Wilson stated the purpose of the meeting, as cited <br /> <br />in the required nJtice, i.e., (1) to take such action as may be approved and <br /> <br />expedient to provide funds to enable the exercising of options on property <br /> <br />included in land for the proposed airport in the Spencer (Virginia) area; and <br /> <br />(2) to consider such other matters as may be properly brought before Council <br /> <br />at this meeting. <br /> <br />In the development of a new airport for the area, in accordance with information <br /> <br />presented to Council in its special meeting which the City's share of the total <br /> <br />projected cost would be $57,250.00, the City would be obligated for one-half of <br /> <br />the cost of land (and present buildings).
