<br />1( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 12. 1963 <br /> <br />.'- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br />Tuesday, February 12, 1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members of Council being <br /> <br />present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held January 22, 1963. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />a proposal to rezone from "A-2 Residential'1 to "B-2 Industrial" certain property <br /> <br />on the east side of Franklin and Dillard Streets, including Sale Knitting Company <br /> <br />property not already so zoned. There being no objections registered towards this <br /> <br />proposed rezoning, and the Planning Commission already having so recommended, <br /> <br />Council effected the change of zoning by adopting the following ordinance amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Code: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this twelfth day of February, 1963, that the <br />Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be and are hereby <br />fu'TIended to classify as "B-2 Industrial" all of that certain area east of <br />Dillard Street presently surrounded on three sides by "B-2 Industrial'1 <br />zoning, indicated on the City's Zoning Map as being bounded by the former <br />Rieves Street on the east, Sale Knitting Company property on the south, <br />and by Franklin and Dillard Streets on the west, including Sale Knitting <br />Company property not already so zoned. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that the Virginia National Guard's architect has <br /> <br />advised that plans for a new armory for Martinsville are essentially complete. <br /> <br />".... <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported further that a proposed agreement between the City <br /> <br />and the National Guard is under study and will be presented to Council within <br /> <br />the near future. <br />
