<br />44 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 26, 1 %2 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martin svil Ie , <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council <br />Chamber, City Hall, Tuesda.v, June 26,1962, at 7:30 P.M., all members of <br />Council being present, viz., :Ha.yor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. <br />Renick; Thomas J. Burch; E. E. Stone; and Harry L. Boa.z. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held June 12, 1962. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst presented certain adjustments--as generally directed by <br />Council-in the proposed 1962-63 City Budget, after which Council called for <br />a special meeting to be held Friday, June 29, 1%2, at 12:30 P.M., for the <br />purpose of acting upon said proposed budget. Mean while, Mr. T. J. Childress, Jr., <br />petitioned that Council include funds for the construction of an industrial <br />access street to serve industries on Rives Road Extension and to remove heavy <br />industria.l traffic from Rives Road. Hr. Childress also requested that funds <br />be included for development of the City's thoroughfare plan. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for <br /> <br />execution by Hayor Wilson and Council's Clerk a deed conveying some 14.2 acres <br /> <br />of the City's airport tract--for the consideration stipulated therein-to the <br /> <br /> <br />Southeastern Container Corporation far industrial usage. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged with appreciation the following report of the City Plarming <br /> <br /> <br />Commission, pertaining to the proposed locating of a new high school building <br /> <br />on property owned by Lester Illmber Company, Inc., located on Northside Drive, <br /> <br />on which property the City School Board holds a purchase option: <br />
