<br />3: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 10. 1968 <br /> <br />The regu~ar semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />September 10, 1968, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Francis T. West, <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />-,,-- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held August 27, 1968, and of its special (organizational) meeting <br /> <br />held September 2, 1968. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the proposed closing of that portion of "Cll Street lying between Fifth <br /> <br />Street and Roundabout Road, as requested July 9, 1968, by Mr. Sandy F. <br /> <br />Pitzer, Jr. There being no objections registered by anyone to this proposed <br /> <br />closing, and in acceptance of the Planning Commission1s recommendation thereon, <br /> <br />Council adopted the following ordinance, effecting said closing with retention <br /> <br />of any and all utility easements: <br /> <br />wdEREAS, by petition filed July 9, 1968, with Martinsville City Council, <br />Me'. Sandy F. Pitzer, Jr., requested the closing and vacating of a <br />portion of "Cll Street, west of Fifth Street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to applicable regulations, said Martinsville City <br />Council referred this petition to the Martinsville Planning <br />Commission and said Planning Commission, following a public hearing <br />on this matter, has recommended the closing and vacating of said <br />portion of llCll Street, subject to retention of easements for any and <br />all utilities lying within the street space; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Martinsville City Council on September 10, 1968, conducted a <br />duly-advertised public hearing on said petition and received no <br />objections from anyone to the proposed closing of said portion of <br />"c" Street; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of September, 1968, <br />that it doth accept the recommendation of the Martinsville Planning <br />Commission in this matter and doth hereby direct the closing and <br />
