<br />~1 0 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 10. 1968 <br /> <br />vacating of that portion of "C" Street lying between Fifth Street <br />and Roundabout Road, subject to retention of easements for any and <br />all utilities lying within the street space; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that a copy of this ordinance <br />be filed with the Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of <br />Martinsville as directive that his records be marked accordingly. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the proposed rezoning to "M-2 Irrlustrial" of properties at 405 <br /> <br />and 406 Bridge Street, as requested July 23, 1968, by Martinsville Ice <br /> <br />Company and by Martinsville Coal & Oil Company (respectively). There <br /> <br />being no objections registered by anyone to this proposed rezoning, and <br /> <br />in acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation that these and <br /> <br />other properties--hereinafter described--be so rezoned, subject to retention <br /> <br />of existing fifteen-foot setback requirements, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinance effecting said rezoning (~ith setback requirements) and amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of September, 1968, that <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be, and are hereby, amended to <br />reclassify--for zoning purposes--to "M-2 Industrialll all those <br />properties fronting both east and west sides of Bridge Street between <br />the Norfolk & Western Railway Company's right-of-way (Bridge Street <br />underpass) and Lavinder Street; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Paragraph "F" of Section VI of the <br />City's Zoning Ordinance be, and is hereby< amended to provide and <br />require a setback distance of fifteen (15) feet on both (east and <br />west) sides of the aforementioned section of Bridge Street hereby <br />rezoned. <br /> <br />Having received the Planning Commission's report and favorable recommendation <br /> <br />on the rezoning request filed July 23, 1968, by Custer & Custer Sporting <br /> <br />Goods, requesting a commercial zoning classification for its property within <br /> <br />the City's north corporate limits, along Liberty Street, Council directed <br /> <br />that a public hearing on this proposed rezoning be conducted at Council's <br /> <br />forthcoming October 8th meeting. <br />
