.) q I d..::..--t TUESDAY JULY 23, 1968 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, July 23, 1968, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor; E. E. Stone; Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. Following the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held July 9, 1968. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the requested rezoning of portions of property located on Ellsworth Street, between Church Street and Brown Streets, at which hearing several citizens asked questions relating thereto and, also, supplied information thereon; however, no one registered any objections to the proposed rezoning as recommended by the Planning Commission under date of June 25, 1968; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council effected said proposed rezoning by adopting the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third day of July, 1968, that the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be, and are hereby, amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--as follows the following areas of Ellsworth Street, between East Church Street and Brown Street: "C-2 Commercial" (1) Those properties fronting the east side of said Ellsworth Street; and (2) Those properties fronting the west side of said Ellsworth Street from (and including) the Hite property, at 30 Dllsworth Street, southward to Brown Street.
