<br />) I.} I <br />" .....-t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 10. 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsv ille, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, October <br /> <br />10, 1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor E. E. <br /> <br />Stone; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held September 26, 1967, and its adjourned meeting held <br /> <br />September 27, 1 967. <br /> <br />In connection with procedures required in the closing and vacating of streets <br /> <br />and/or alleyways and with specific reference to the recently-requested <br /> <br />closing of a portion of Burl Street (unopened), Council resumed the public <br /> <br />hearing thereon (continued from its September 26th meeting); however, it was <br /> <br />noted that no one appeared in opposition to the proposed closing. Meanwhile, <br /> <br />Mr. J. Grady Monday, Attorney at Law and Counsel for petitioners (Messrs. <br /> <br />L. R. Wyatt, Sr., and J. E. Richardson), informed Council that he has appeared <br /> <br />before the Planning Commission on this matter and that he believes that any <br /> <br />questions concerning this particular matter can be resolved in the near future. <br /> <br />Council, therefore, continued this matter to its next regular meeting, pending <br /> <br />information expected from the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. J. P. Wade, representing the Martinsville-Henry County Homebuilders <br /> <br />Association, again appeared before Council in support of his earlier plea <br /> <br />that the fee of $200.00 imposed July 25, 1967 for sewer connections in new <br /> <br />subdivisions be delayed for twelve months, claiming that this fee--in con- <br /> <br />junction with other revised water a~d sewer connection fees--imposes a <br />
