<br />() --1 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 22, 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with V~yor Fred T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />August 22, 1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor <br /> <br />E. E. Stone; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held August 8, 1967. <br /> <br />After receiving the following August 18th report of the Planning Commission, <br /> <br />accompanied by the Commission's sub-colllillittee report, and after receiving <br /> <br />cOll~ents from Mr. Oscar F. Cannaday, Jr., all involving Mr. Cannaday's <br /> <br />recent request that the City's Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances be amended <br /> <br />to permit the development of condominiums and townhouses-rowhouses, Council <br /> <br />re-referred this matter to the COmnlission, emphasizing the fact that the <br /> <br />Council takes no position, either for or against such residential developments; <br /> <br />furthermore, in this re-referral, the Council did not ask at this time for <br /> <br />proposed amendnlents to these ordinances as may be necessary to permit such <br /> <br />d'3velopments but, rather, for clarification and such pertinent information <br /> <br />as might enable the Council to determine whether to accept the COlllillission's <br /> <br />offer to prepare detailed revisions of applicable regulations for Council's <br /> <br />consideration: <br /> <br />(a) Your Planning Commission, upon recelvlng your reference of <br />Mr. Oscar Cpnnaday's request that the Zoning Ordinance and <br />Subdivision Ordinance be revised to allow for the development <br />of condominiums and townhouses or rowhouses, appointed a <br />sub-comnlittee composed of Mr. James H. Ford, Mr. Morton W. <br />Lester and Mr. William G. Pannill to investigate and report <br />back to the COmnlission its findings with regard to this matter. <br />
