<br />1 ')() <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 10. 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br /> <br />January 10, 1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />All members, with the exception of Councilman Francis T. West, were present, <br /> <br />viz., Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor; E. E. 'Stone, Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; and <br /> <br />W. Donald Hartford. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held December 27, 1966. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br /> <br />following ordinance amending Sections 9-170, 9-171, 9-172, and 9-173 of the <br /> <br /> <br />City's Motor Vehicles & Traffic Code, effecting a revision of a similar <br /> <br /> <br />amendment adopted August 25, 1964 to up-date said sections to parallel like <br /> <br /> <br />amendments enacted by the 1966 Virginia General Assembly pertaining to lldriving <br /> <br /> <br />under the influencell, II impaired dri vi ng II , etc.: <br /> <br />(SEE INSERT) <br /> <br />City Manager Noland reported that foundation walls for the City's new City Hall <br /> <br />(under construction) have been completed and that installation of structural <br /> <br />steel is now in process. Meanwhile, Council indicated that it might soon visit <br /> <br />a recently-completed municipal building at Suffolk, Virginia, to examine certain <br /> <br />features thereof in the interest of adapting desirable features in the City's <br /> <br />new City Hall. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Mr. David B. Worthy, Attorney at Law and Counsel for Sale Knitting Company, by <br /> <br />petition requested the closing and vacating of Rives Street--of which Sale <br />
