8 TUESDAY JULY 26, 1966 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, July 26, 1966, in the Council Chrnnber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council, with the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch (who was out of town), were present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick, Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone. After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular meeting held July 12, 1966. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a petition submitted June 28, 1966, by Martinsville General Hospital, Inc., requesting the rezoning to "P_1 Professional~ of a 46-acre tract of land located on the north side of Northside Drive, site of the petitioner's proposed new hospital facility. There being no objections registered, and the Planning Commission having previously recommended granting of petition, Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map and effecting said requested rezoning: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of July, 1966, that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and are, hereby amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--to ~P-1 Professional~ that tract of land, consisting of some fort\-six acres and located on the north side of Northside Drive, which tract is owned by Martinsville General Hospital, Inc., and is the site for proposed new hospital facilities. Mr. Carl H. Bach, Chairman of the recently-reconvened Smoke Abatement Committee, along with City Manager Noland, reported that the Committee has accepted Council's assignment of June 28, 1966, viz., to consider the City's proposed air pollution ordinance and to make recommendations thereon.
