<br />8 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 26, 1966 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, July 26, <br /> <br />1966, in the Council Chrnnber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members <br /> <br />of Council, with the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch (who was out <br /> <br />of town), were present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick, <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held July 12, 1966. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on a petition submitted June 28, 1966, by Martinsville General Hospital, Inc., <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning to "P_1 Professional~ of a 46-acre tract of land located <br /> <br />on the north side of Northside Drive, site of the petitioner's proposed new <br /> <br />hospital facility. There being no objections registered, and the Planning <br /> <br />Commission having previously recommended granting of petition, Council unanimously <br /> <br />adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map and <br /> <br />effecting said requested rezoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth <br />day of July, 1966, that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of <br />the City of Martinsville be, and are, hereby amended to <br />reclassify--for zoning purposes--to ~P-1 Professional~ that <br />tract of land, consisting of some fort\-six acres and located <br />on the north side of Northside Drive, which tract is owned by <br />Martinsville General Hospital, Inc., and is the site for <br />proposed new hospital facilities. <br /> <br />Mr. Carl H. Bach, Chairman of the recently-reconvened Smoke Abatement Committee, <br /> <br />along with City Manager Noland, reported that the Committee has accepted Council's <br /> <br />assignment of June 28, 1966, viz., to consider the City's proposed air pollution <br /> <br />ordinance and to make recommendations thereon.
