<br />H <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 22, 1966 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 22, <br /> <br />1966, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, all members <br /> <br />being present with the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch (who was out <br /> <br />of town), viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; <br /> <br />Harry L. 30az; and E. E. stone. <br /> <br />,"- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held March 8, 1966, and of its special meeting held March 18, 1966. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the Piedmont Trust Bank's petition (duly processed and approved by the <br /> <br />Planning Commission) requesting the rezoning to "C-2 CommercialH of its <br /> <br />property fronting sixty-five feet on the east side of Ellsworth Street, <br /> <br />adjacent to the south boundary of the present bank site. There being no <br /> <br />objection~3 registered, Council adopted the following ordinance effecting <br /> <br />said rezoning and amending the City's Zoning Code and Map accordingly: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-second day <br />of March, 1966, that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of <br />the City of Martinsville be, and are, hereby amended to <br />reclassify--for zoning purposes--to ltC-2 Commerciall1 that <br />property (formerly known as the "McMillionl1 property) fronting <br />the east side of Ellsworth Street and adjacent to the south <br />boundary of the present Piedmont Trust Bank side at the corner <br />of Ellsworth and Church Streets, which property is owned by <br />the I'iedmont Consumer Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary <br />of the Piedmont Trust Bank. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />In connection with this rezoning and the utilization of the property rezoned, <br /> <br />Council accepted the Piedmont Trust Bank's proposal that Ellsworth Street <br /> <br />be widened on the east side thereof and alongside the property rezoned, <br /> <br />aligned wi,th curb-and-gutter extending north towards East Church Street, <br /> <br />and that sidewalk be reconstructed (on a shared-cost basis) in keeping with <br /> <br />that alongside the present bank facility, for which necessary easement will <br /> <br />, <br />. <br />
