<br />~o <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 22, 1972 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />--.. <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, August <br /> <br />22, 1972, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Francis T. West, <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held August 8, 1972. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland introduced and presented Mr. Robert 1. Corekin as Director <br /> <br />of the City's D~partment of Electricity, effective August 21, 1972, succeeding <br /> <br />Mr. Thomas W. Wright, recently retired because of disability. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on Graves Supply Company's petition (filed June 13, 1972) requesting the <br /> <br />closing and vacating of a portion of Harris Street right-of-way at said street's <br /> <br />intersection with North Memorial Boulevard, said portion being adjacent to <br /> <br />property owned by petitioner. In acceptance of the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommended approval thereof, dated July 24, 1972, and there being no objections <br /> <br />registered thereto by any citizens, Council adopted the following ordinance <br /> <br />directing the vacating and closing of said portion of Harris Street, including <br /> <br />the quitclaiming thereof to Graves Supply Company: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by petition filed June 13, 1972, with Martinsville City Council, <br />Graves Supply Company, Inc., requested the closing and vacating of a <br />small and un-used portion of Harris Street at or near its intersection <br />with Memorial Boulevard North; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by report dated July 24, 1972, the Martinsville Planning Commission <br />recommended to Martinsville City Council that petitioner's request be <br />granted; and <br /> <br />u____._________.____..."_~,.._~..,_..____'__,...."....' . <br />
