<br />'~8 <br />c> <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 22, 1972 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its regular meeting held August 22, 1972, pursuant to Section <br />3 of Chapter 8 of the Charter of the City of Martinsville, Martinsville <br />City Council conducted a duly-advertised public hearing on said request, <br />at which meeting no objections thereto were registered; now, therefore, <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this twenty-second day of August, 1972, that <br />it doth accept the planning Commission's aforesaid recommendation and <br />does hereby order and declare that said portion of Harris Street, situated <br />between property owned by Graves Supply Company, Inc., identified as Lot <br />A on plat of Survey prepared by J. A. Gustin & Associates under date of <br />June 21, 1972, and a new west line of Harris Street (26 feet west of and <br />parallel to the centerline of said Harris Street), be and is hereby vacated, <br />closed and abandoned, being further identified as a parcel consisting of <br />.061 acre to be quitclaimed to said Graves Supply Company, Inc., by the <br />City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that a copy of this ordinance be <br />forthwith filed with the Clerk of Martinsville Corporation Court as <br />Directive and authorization to mark his records accordingly. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on Graves Supply Company's petition (filed June 13, 1972) requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning (from "C-3" to ''M-l'') of petitioner's property fronting the west <br /> <br />side of Harris Street at its intersection with North Memorial Boulevard and <br /> <br />including the portion of Harris Street hereinabove vacated and closed. In <br /> <br />acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation (dated July 24, 1972) that <br /> <br />this request be granted, Council adopted the following ordinance effecting said <br /> <br />requested rezoning through the amending of the City's Zoning Ordinance and <br /> <br />Zoning Code: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-second day of August, 1972, <br />that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville <br />be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "M_Ill that certain lot <br />owned by Graves Supply Company, Inc., including that portion of <br />Harris Street right-of-way ordered vacated and abandoned by ordinance <br />adopted by Martinsville City Council under date of August 22, 1972, <br />which portion is quitclaimed to Graves Supply Company, Inc., being <br />identified as Lot A on Plat of Survey prepared June 21, 1972 by J. A. <br />Gustin & Associates, and situated on the west side of Harris Street <br />at its intersection with Memorial Boulevard North. <br />
