~ q ,)
h)......

TUESDAY

APRIL 25, 1972

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville,

Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday,

April 25, 1972, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M.,

all members being present, viz., F. T. Renick, M.D., M~yor; Francis T. West,

Vice Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson.

After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its

regular meeting held April 11, 1972.

Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council and the Planning

Commission jointly conducted a public hearing on Lester Lumber Company's

petition dated February 22, 1972, requesting the rezoning of its property

at 212 Franklin Street to "M-l Industrial", this property formerly being

occupied by Twin-City Grocery Company. Mr. James B. Hall, Real Estate

Manager for petitioner, informed Council and the Commission that petitioner

plans to remodel and/or rebuild the present building at this location for

use by Martinsville Wholesale Grocery Company. There being no objections

registered by anyone to the proposed rezoning, and in acceptance of the

Planning Commission's recommendation that the request be granted, Council

effected said rezoning through the following ordinance, unanimously adopted,

amending the City's Zoning Code and Map:

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth day of April, 1972,
that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville
be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "M-l Industrial" that
certain property located at 212 Franklin Street and owned by Lester
Lumber Company, Inc.
