<br />1~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 26, 1971 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />January 26, 1971, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis <br /> <br />T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br /><- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held January 12, 1971. <br /> <br />In connection with Council's action taken during its regular meeting held <br /> <br />October 13, 1970, wherein and whereby partial and conditional rezoning of <br /> <br />a portion of Nationwide Homes' property--between Rugg Creek and Forest <br /> <br />Street--was effected, and with particular Leference to that portion of the <br /> <br />adopted ordinance effecting said rezoning, which declared no change in <br /> <br />zoning of Lots Nos. 55 through 59 for a depth of one hundred and thirty <br /> <br />feet (130') from their Forest Street property lines, Council was informed <br /> <br />that Nationwide Homes, Inc. (Mr. Ralph C. Lester, President) has inquired <br /> <br />as to whether it might be permitted to apply an average of 130' depth for <br /> <br />usage purposes, i.e., a depth of l60' on one lot at one end and (decreasing <br /> <br />to a depth of) lOO' on the lot at the other end of the five lots. After <br /> <br />some discussion, Council ruled that, if Nationwide Homes wishes to seek a <br /> <br />variation from the zoning previously effected, a petition for such should be <br /> <br />filed for processing in the manner required by law, at the conclusion of <br /> <br />which Council would either grant or deny the request. <br /> <br />In referring to the State Water Control Board's directive made a part of <br /> <br />Council's minutes covering meeting held June 9, 1970, whereby the City of <br />
