<br />1 <br /> <br />TUE SDAY <br /> <br />JANUARy 12, 1971 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, January <br /> <br />12, 1971, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members--with the exception of Vice-Mayor Francis T. West--being present, viz., <br /> <br />F. T. Renick, M.D., Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. <br /> <br />Hobson. <br /> <br /><<- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held December 22, 1970. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, the Council and the Planning Commission <br /> <br />conducted a joint public hearing on Triangle Development's application (dated <br /> <br />November 8, 1970) for a special-use permit to allow development and construction <br /> <br />and operation by petitioner of an apartment complex, under the Federal Rent <br /> <br />Subsidy Program, to be located off Route 57 West. There being no objections <br /> <br />registered, Council granted said permit, subject to the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommended stipulations, i.e., "developer conforming to plans and specifications <br /> <br />as presented to the Commission and (to) such other regulations as may be necessary <br /> <br />to provide for parking access and utilities under the Public Works Department and <br /> <br />(the) Traffic & Planning Director." <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, the Council and the Planning <br /> <br />Commission jointly conducted a public hearing on the Martinsville Jaycees' November <br /> <br />4th (1970) application for a special-use permit to allow petitioner's sponsorship <br /> <br />of King Brothers Circus at Liberty Heights Field, Wednesday, May 12, 1971. There <br /> <br />being no objections registered, Council granted said permit, subject to compliance <br /> <br />with the City's public safety regulations, such as Fire, Police and Health <br /> <br />requirements, this condition being recommended by the Planning Commission. <br />
