-= TUESDAY APRIL 14, 1970 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, April 14, 1970, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular meeting held March 24, 1970. Pursuant to duly-advertised notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a petition-- carrying the Planning Commission's recommendation of approva1--requesting the rezoning of Mrs. Bertha Marshall's property at 210 S. Moss Street from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 Professional". There being no objections registered by anyone to this proposed rezoning, Council effected same through its adoption of the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of April, 1970, that the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "P-2 Professional!! that property identified as "21- S. Moss Street" and owned by Mrs. Bertha Marshall. Messrs. William U. Starkey and Fred K. Little, of Southwestern Vrrginia Gas Company, reported to Council the fact that the State Corporation Commission has recently ruled on the gas company!s rate app1ication--which the City of Martinsville and the County of Henry contested and opposed before the Commission as to the original rate increase sought--with an average increase of 9% being approved, effective April 15, 1970.
