.>
.)

TUESDAY

JANUARY 13, 1970

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville,

-..

Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday,

January 13, 1970, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M.,

all members being present, viz., Mayor F.T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis

T. West; Harry L.Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson.

After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its

regular meeting held December 18, 1969.

Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing

on proposed amendments to Sections II and Sections VIII of the City's Zoning

Ordinance, as recommended by the City Planning Commission and introduced at

Council's December 9th (1969) meeting, relating to additional definitions and

to regulations for special types of uses, with criteria for the allowing of

"townhouse" developments. Mr. Oscar F. Cannaday, Jr., registered his

objections to certain phases of the recommended criteria section, indicating

his opinion that certain proposed requirements would impose a prohibition

upon a developer of townhouse projects. There being no other objections or

comments registered by anyone, Council unanimously accepted the Planning

Commission's recommendations through the enacting of the following ordinances

amending the City's Zoning Code:

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in
regular meeting assembled this thirteenth day of January, 1970, that
Section II of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Martinsville be--and
is amended--to incorporate the following definitions and/or revisions:

SECTION II.
