<br />285 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 11, 1974 <br /> <br />~.. <br />I <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Francis T. West presiding, was held Tuesday, June 11, 1974, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being <br /> <br />present, viz., Francis T. West, Mayor; Harry L. Boaz, Vice Mayor; W. Donald <br /> <br />Hartford; William D. Hobson; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />,,-- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as read--the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held May 28, 1974 and of meeting adjourned therefrom held June 4, 1974. <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />In calling Council's attention to the expiration on June 30, 1974 of Planning <br /> <br />Connnission members' terms and, also, to the recently-enacted ordinance <br /> <br />increasing the membership of said Commission (effective May 25, 1974) from <br /> <br />seven to nine, Mayor West announced (1) that Mr. Leon Globman has resigned as <br /> <br />Chairman and member of the Commission, effective June 30, 1974; (2) that Mr. <br /> <br />William G. Pannill has requested that he not be reappointed; and (3) that Mr. <br /> <br />Ben W. Via is retiring, after many years of service, at the expiration of his <br /> <br />term on June 30, 1974. Mayor West then announced the appointing of Mrs. <br /> <br />Virginia M. Hall and Messrs. Benjamin F. Gray, John R. Kirk, Julius C. Murrell, <br /> <br />and E. Jackson Sapp to membership on the Connnission, with the terms of Messrs. <br /> <br />Gray and Sapp to begin immediately and the terms of the other appointees to <br /> <br />begin July 1, 1974, and the reappointing of Messrs. T. J. ~hildress, Jr., <br /> <br />R. Jack Dandridge, James H. Ford, and George L. Nease to the Commission, also <br /> <br />for terms beginning July 1, 1974, with all terms expiring June 30, 1978. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />901 <br />
