West presiding, was held Tuesday, April 24,

1973, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members

being present, viz., Mayor Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz, Vice Mayor;

W. Donald Hartford; William D. Hobson; and Morton W. Lester.

After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular

meeting held April 10, 1973.

With reference to Council's consideration, at its regular meeting held April 10,

1973, of the resolution recently adopted by the Henry County Board of Supervisors,

calling for a special study committee--composed of two members from each of the

jurisdictions within the West Piedmont Planning District--to evaluate the

operations of the District Commission, this matter was again brought before

Council, with Vice-Mayor Boaz re-introducing his April 10th motion (seconded by

Councilman Lester), that Councilmen Hartford and Lester be appointed the City's

representatives to this special committee. There being no objections registered,

Council unanimously elected Messrs. Hartford and Lester to membership on said

committee.

In unanimous acceptance of the Planning Commission's report and recommendation,

Council denied the recent petition filed by Lester Lumber Company, Inc., which

requested the rezoning of petitioner's property at 108 Fairy Street to a IC_3"

zoning classification, because the findings that such a rezoning would be

detrimental to what is now a good residential area.

Subject to a duly-advertised public hearing, scheduled for Council's meeting

to be held Tuesday, May 22, 1973, Council tentatively accepted the Planning
