<br />J (! <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 24. 1973 <br /> <br />".~ <br /> <br />Commission's recommendation that property located at 316 Brown Street be rezoned <br /> <br />to "P-2 Professional", pursuant to petition for such rezoning recently filed by <br /> <br />Mr. J. W. Jones, III, owner. <br /> <br />..- <br /> <br />Council also unanimously accepted the Planning Commission's recommendation, <br /> <br />regarding the March 30th (1973) request for water and sewer service filed by <br /> <br />220 Mobile Home Sales (Mr. Lester Bowman, President), which recommendation <br /> <br />provided, should Council grant this request, ".....that covenants be recorded <br /> <br /> <br />against the property which would in effect zone the property to a C-3 Commercial <br /> <br /> <br />classification for a distance east on 220 from Commonwealth Boulevard of 300 feet <br /> <br /> <br />and north on Commonwealth from Route 220 a distance of 250 feet and that such <br /> <br />connections be limited to the present usage for the period of the lease now held" <br /> <br />by petitioner. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation dated April 20, <br /> <br />1973, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted at its <br /> <br />forthcoming May 22nd meeting on an application for a Special-Use Permit filed by the <br /> <br />James E. Long Construction Company (of Roanoke, Virginia), which would allow <br /> <br />petitioner to construct the second phase (of 114 units) of an apartment complex <br /> <br />on property formerly owned by Mr. George C. Salmons, located in East Martinsville. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronald W. Williams, Attorney at Law, Danville, Virginia, appeared before Council <br /> <br />on behalf of his client Mr. Thomas J. Blackwell and/or Blackwell Motor Company, who <br /> <br />proposes to construct a commercial building off Commonwealth Boulevard on land <br /> <br />owned by Lester Lumber Compcny, outside the City's corporate limits, and for whom <br /> <br />Lester Lumber Company has previously requested City water and sewer service through <br />
