<br />(~~ <br />Jt; <br /> <br />T~SDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 24, 1973 <br /> <br />the extending--as would be required by owner or petitioner--of City water <br /> <br />and sewer lines for such service. It was noted that sewer service is already <br /> <br />available; however, Mr. Williams requested either some financial assistance <br /> <br />from the City to extend the required water line or the waiving of the City's <br /> <br />requirement thereon as to size. Upon recommendation of Assistant City Manager <br /> <br />George W. Brown, Council granted permission to extend the City's eight-inch <br /> <br />water line from a point opposite or near Mason's Department Store, northeast <br /> <br />along Commonwealth Boulevard, to a point at or near V-C Drive, and thence <br /> <br />(with) a twelve-inch water line along Commonwealth Boulevard to a point whereby <br /> <br />said proposed building can be served. It was noted that the waiver of the <br /> <br />requirement pertaining to the size of a portion of the extended line, not <br /> <br />necessarily permanent, was granted because this site and the adjoining lands <br /> <br />are under one and the same ownership and that specific details covering this <br /> <br />permissive action are to be incorporated in an appropriate document to be <br /> <br />executed by Mr. Williams' client and/or Lester Lumber Company. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Assistant City Manager George W. Brown, Council adopted <br /> <br />two resolutions pertaining to applications for Federal funds--which have been <br /> <br />approved by the Department of Housing & Urban Development--for land acquisition <br /> <br />and/or site development for recreational facilities at Southside Park, West End, <br /> <br />and Chatham Heights. The grant for Southside Park land acquisition, being for <br /> <br />$20,675.00, is conditioned upon acquisition of land within two months and upon <br /> <br />development within six months; whereas, the grant of $41,044.00 for Chatham <br /> <br />Heights and West End projects being conditioned upon land acquisition within <br /> <br />two months and development within twelve months, with this (latter) grant <br /> <br />representing 50% of the cost.
