(~ n 12. " r.;;~v TUESDAY JULY 27, 1976 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, July 27, 1976, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held July 13, 1976. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the Planning Commission's June 18th (1976) proposal that the City's Zoning Ordinance be amended (1) to allow the conduct of used-car lots and/or repair garages in "C-2 Commercial District" zoning areas and (2) to allow living quarters for one family in a single commercial building within "C-3 Commercial District" zoning areas, if the single commercial building houses a single use and is occupied by the owner, manager or caretaker of such building. Council deferred action on this proposal, pending completion of proceedings in this case by the Planning Commission. Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission, meanwhile noting that the Commission will not have completed its final consideration until at its August 3rd meeting, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing on the Martinsville Corvette Club's Application for a Special-Use Permit (filed with Council at its June 8th meeting and referred to the Planning Commission), seeking permission to conduct a bicycle "Autocross" at Liberty Heights Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 18, 1976, said public hearing to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming August 24th meeting.
