<br />61 j< /~ <br />r:., .~ <br /> <br />THURSDAY <br /> <br />JULY 8, 1976 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Thursday, July 8, 1976, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 8:30 A.M., for the stated <br /> <br />purpose of considering and determining the usage of Federal Revenue-Sharing <br /> <br />funds allocated for the period July 1, 1976 through December 31, 1976, and <br /> <br />for the stated purpose of considering two legal matters in Executive Session. <br /> <br />All members of Council were present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. <br /> <br />Hobson, Vice Mayor; G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation, and pursuant to authority granted under Section 2-6 of <br /> <br />the City Code, Mayor Boaz announced the appointment of Mr. E. E. ("Tee") Stone, <br /> <br />a former member of City Council, to membership on the City Planning Commission <br /> <br />for the unexpired term (ending June 30, 1978) of Mr. George L. Nease, resigned <br /> <br />(see letter of resignation dated May 19, 1976). <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council indicated that the <br /> <br />City would spend the sum of $238,050.00 from Federal Revenue-Sharing funds of <br /> <br />like amount allocated for the "Seventh Entitlement Period" (Le., July 1, 1976 <br /> <br />through December 31, 1976) for operating-maintenance expenses under Revenue- <br /> <br />Sharing's Public Safety category, with notice thereof to be published in the <br /> <br />Martinsville Bulletin pursuant to Federal-Revenue Sharing requirements and the <br /> <br />required "Planned Use Report" to be filed with the appropriate Federal agency, <br /> <br />as required. Council's attention was called to the fact that, although said <br /> <br />"Planned Use Report" should have been received by the City during the latter part <br /> <br />of April, 1976 for execution and return to the Federal agency by June 25, 1976, <br />
