<br />r, /\' <br />N \)' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 8, 1976 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, June 8, 1976, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being <br /> <br />present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; G. S. <br /> <br />Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W~ Lester. <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />Following the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held May 25, 1976 and of its special meeting held June 2, 1976. <br /> <br />Indicative of its intent to implement partially the CBD Parking Plan, Council <br /> <br />placed on first reading the following two ordinances, the first of which is <br /> <br />designed to restrict and/or eliminate so-called "meter feeding" and the other <br /> <br />to restrict the use of loading zones: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />that paragraph (b) of Section 10-112 of the Martinsvil1e City Code <br />be amended by addingllhereto the following sentence: <br /> <br />~"- <br /> <br />Whenever a parking meter bears.a legend prohibiting the <br />use of the parking meter space by the same vehicle beyond <br />the limited period of time specified on the legend, no <br />person shall permit a vehicle within his control to remain <br />parked in any such parking meter space during the restricted <br />and regulated time applicable to the parking meter zone in <br />which such meter is located beyond t~e limited period of <br />time specified on said legend. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, <br />that Section 10-81 of the Martinsville City Code be amended to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />No person shall stop or park a vehicle in any loading zone <br />except for the immediate and continuous unloading and delivery <br />or pickup and loading of materials or passengers from or to <br />said vehicle during hours parking meters are in force; and, <br />whenever a sign is erected at any loading zone giving notice <br />that use of said loading zone by the same vehicle for a period <br />of longer than one hour is prohibited, no person shall permit <br />a vehicle within his control to remain stopped or parked in <br />said loading zone for a period of longer than one hour. <br />
