<br />30 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27, 1975 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, ,was held Tuesday, May 27, 1975, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being <br /> <br />present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; <br /> <br />G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held May 6, 1975 and of its special meeting held May 16, <br /> <br />1975. <br /> <br />Pursuant to verbal request submitted on behalf of the Patrick Henry Drug <br /> <br />Control Council by Mrs. William R. Martin and Director James M. Tobin, Council <br /> <br />authorized making available to said Drug Control Council the City-owned <br /> <br />residence at 120 Brown Street with the understanding that said Drug Control <br /> <br />Council would occupy the premises at no cost to the City and would vacate <br /> <br />the premises upon sixty days' notice, it being noted that this property was <br /> <br />acquired by the City to provide right-of-way for the extending of Mulberry <br /> <br />Road into Brown Street at this point at some future date. Petitioner also <br /> <br />agreed to provide adequate off-street parking. <br /> <br />Councilman Lester, referring to a recent speech by Councilman Greene before <br /> <br />a meeting of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, took <br /> <br />exception to portions of this speech as reported on by the Martinsville <br /> <br />Bulletin, particularly as to certain alledged connotations therein; and, <br /> <br />in reply, Councilman Greene pointed out that, aside from his feeling of <br />
