Roop <br /> <br />Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of January <br />10 and 22, 2002. (See Enclosures #1-a and l-b) <br /> <br />II. Recognition of two individuals by the Police Department: <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />A. Zoe Love, who retired from the City as a School Crossing Guard <br /> (Sergeant) with 30 years of service <br /> <br />B. Citizen of the Year <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Chief of Police Mike Rogers will make these presentations. <br /> <br />Presentation of first annual "Landlord of the Year" award by the Housing <br />Services Office. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Mr. Wayne Knox, Housing Manager, will be making a <br />presentation to Mr. Mack Evans as the recipient of the first annual <br />Housing Services Office "Landlord of the Year" award. This award was <br />created to recognize and honor an outstanding landlord that <br />demonstrates the following: professionalism, provides safe and <br />affordable housing to residents of the Martinsville and Henry County. <br />area, practices fair housing, enforces the terms of his/her lease, sets <br />reasonable rents, provides ongoing maintenance throughout the year, is <br />genuinely concerned for the health and safety of his/her tenants and has <br />a desire for improvement of the quality of life for low-income families. <br />Mr. Evans has been sent a letter informing him of this presentation and <br />inviting him to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation to act favorably on the proposal by Branch Highways to <br />build U.S. Route 58 {from Stuart to 1-77 in Carroll County)under the <br />Public Private Transportation Act. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: At the request of the Mayor in your last meeting, we <br />recommend adoption of the Resolution as prepared. Council adopted a <br />similar Resolution on August 14, 2001. <br /> <br /> <br />
