Crabtree <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of <br /> August 14, 23 and 28, 2001. (See Enclosure #l-a, #1-b and #l-c) <br /> <br />Vo <br /> <br />COMMENTS: The Clerk has the minutes ready, but he is out of <br />town. He will deliver them to Council on Sunday or Monday. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing on a request by Virgia B. Hobson to <br />rezone property located at 1009 Fayette Street, from R-9 <br />Residential to C- lA Commercial and consider adoption of an <br />Ordinance authorizing the rezoning. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: The Planning Commission has recommended <br />approval of this rezoning request. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution supporting the development of a <br />Regional Governor's School for the Counties of Henry, Patrick and <br />Pittsylvania and the Cities of Martinsville and Danville. <br />(See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Dr. Ira Trollinger, Martinsville School Superinten- <br />dent, has participated on the Executive Planning Committee for the <br />proposed Piedmont Governor's School for Mathematics, Science <br />and Technology and will attend the meeting to explain and answer <br />questions. He is asking that the Council adopt a Resolution sup- <br />porting this effort. <br /> <br />Consider authorizing the School Board to enter into a loan agree- <br />ment with SunTrust Bank in the principal amount of $624,802 at <br />3.86% interest for roof and auditorium ceiling repairs at Albert <br />Harris School, two boilers at Patrick Henry School, and the <br />purchase of seven school buses. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: State Code Section 22.1-110 requires approval by <br />governing bodies for School Boards to borrow money. This loan <br />will consist of 60 installments of $11,467.25, beginning October <br />12, 2001, thru September 12, 2006. We recommend that Council <br />authorize the School Board to enter into this loan agreement with <br />SunTrust as noted. <br /> <br /> <br />
