<br />3t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 26. 1955 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, April 26, <br />1955, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, as follows: Mayor and Council- <br /> <br />man R. S. Hodnett; and Councilmen C. P. Craig, B. H. Hill, W. T. Tumer, and <br /> <br />J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Hinutes of the regular Council meeting held April 12, 1955 were approved as <br /> <br />read . <br /> <br />An item on the agenda concerning proposed improvements to the Cit;y" s airport <br /> <br />landing strip was continued at the request of Attorney R. R. Young, Jr., <br /> <br />counsel for a group of interested citizens. <br /> <br />~.:~ <br />~~ <br />'i <br /> <br />In response to a sidewalk petition filed with Council during its meeting of <br /> <br />April 12, 1955, by the Clearview Elementary School PTA, Council accepted <br />City Manager Mathewson's recommendations thereon, as follows (in sUllllllaI"Y), <br />noting that Mr. J. A. Richardson will donate necessary ten feet of right-of- <br /> <br />way along his property fronting on Barrow's Mill Road: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />(a) <br />(b) <br /> <br />(c) <br />(d) <br /> <br />that the Clearview PTA bear the cost of necessary grading <br />along Barrow's Mill Road; <br />that the Clearview PI'A bear the cost of relocating steps <br />and a portion of Mr. J. A. Richardson's wall along <br />Barrow's Mill Road; <br />that the City construct the sidewalk along Barrow's Mill <br />Road to Clearview School access road; and <br />that the City construct entire access road sidewall: on <br />a fifty-fifty basis with the Clearview PTA. <br /> <br />,-.. <br /> <br />City 14anager Mathewson notified Council that the position of Real Estate Agent <br /> <br />authorized by Council on April 12, 1955 has been filled with the appointment of <br /> <br />Mr. Brooks R. Leavitt. <br />
