<br />1(}4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />M.l\.Y 9. 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, May 9, <br /> <br />1967, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, all members <br /> <br />being pre~3ent, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor E. E. Stone; Harry <br /> <br />L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held April 25, 1967. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, the Council and the Martinsville <br /> <br />Planning Commission conducted a joint public hearing on the recent application <br /> <br />of the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company for a "special-use" permit to <br /> <br />conduct its 1967 Firemenfs Bazaar (June 26th thru July 1st) at the Brown Street <br /> <br />Athletic Field. Following due consideration of this application by both the <br /> <br />Council and the Commission, and acknowledging receipt of written objection <br /> <br />filed by Mrs. W. B. Burge and Miss Fleta Woodson, Council granted such a <br /> <br />permit for the 1967 Bazaar, subject to compliance with applicable regulations <br /> <br />and subject to the Bazaar closing its nightly activities no later than 10:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the recent petition submitted by Graves Supply Company for the <br /> <br />rezoning of its property on Memorial Boulevard North, between its present <br /> <br />business site and the House of Furniture, to "M-1 Industrial". The Planning <br /> <br />Commission already having reported favorably on this petition and there being <br /> <br />no objections registered by anyone to the proposed rezoning, Council effected <br /> <br />said rezoning through its adoption of the following ordinance amending the <br /> <br />Cityfs Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this ninth day of May, 1967, that the <br />Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and are <br />
