16,

TUESDAY

MAY 9. 1967

",,---~

hereby, amended to reclassify--for zoning purposes--to ~M-1
Industrial" that portion of property of Graves Supply Company,
Inc., fronting the south side of Memorial Boulevard North for a
distance of approximately 190 feet, bounded on the east by owner's
adjoining business site and on the west by the House of Furniture,
and consisting of a depth of approximately 342 feet along its east
boundary and of approximately 434 feet along its west boundary.

Council continued for further study, awaiting development of data by Mr.

Lawrence Wales (of Wheat & Company), the matter of offering for sale bonds

already authorized.

In connection with the recent request by Mr. James I. Barnes for permission

to extend the City's water mains to serve his proposed subdivision off Spruce

Street, outside the east corporate limits, the Planning Commission reported

that it has granted conditional approval to this subdivision, stipulating that

petitioner present a final map to the Commission for final approval, indicating

a 15-foot dedication to the right-of-way of Spruce Street along the frontage

he owns. The Commission reported, too, its recommendation that Council--if

it grants permission for the extending of said water mains--require the

effecting by petitioner of "R-9 Residential" zoning in this development and

that he comply with all applicable ordinances of the City with regard to such

zoning. Upon motion, duly seconded, Council unanimously granted petitioner's

request, subject to the conditions aforementioned.

After re-considering Mr. Oscar F. Cannaday's request for official sanction of

a proposed rent-subsidy housing project, or variations thereof, the Planning

Commission reported (by letter dated May 5, 1967) that it has unanimously

reaffirmed its earlier positbn (accepted by Council during its meeting held

February 14, 1967) on this proposal and that it sees no change in the conditions

considered in its original deliberations; whereupon, Council unanimously accepted

the Commission's report and findings, thus denying Mr. Cannaday's request.
