MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1990 <br />A special and duly called meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia was held Monday, October 22, 1990 in the <br />Board Room of the Henry County Administration Building,.beginning <br />at 11:45 A.M., for the purpose of further considering the emergency <br />medical services needs of Martinsville and Henry County. The <br />following members of Council were present: Alfred T. Groden, Vice- <br />Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; L.D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br />Absent was Mayor Allan McClain. <br /> <br />Those in attendance from Henry County were: Robert E. Scott, <br />Chairman; Simon C. Spencer, Vice-Chairman; R.J. Frye; S.E. Moran; <br />Robert L. Whitener, Jr.; and Francis E. Zehr from the Board of <br />Supervisors. Also in attendance were C. Lee Lintecum, Henry CoUnty <br />Administrator; Veronica Venable, Deputy County Administrator; and <br />Dale McGhee, County Attorney. <br /> <br />Mr. Lintecum welcomed representatives from the four area rescue <br />squads to the meeting. Mr. Brown reviewed the history of the EMS <br />study and stated that the Board of Supervisors and City Council had <br />referred the initial report back to the rescue'squads for their <br />review and comment. Mr. Brown noted that the rescue squads have <br />reviewed the report and are prepared to make recommendations to the <br />governing bodies of the City and County. Mr. Brown urged all <br />citizens having an interest in the issue to make their feelings <br />known to the City and County, while keeping in mind that any <br />recommendations should take cost considerations into account. <br /> <br /> <br />
