488 <br /> <br />-MONDAY~ OCTOBER 22, 1990 <br /> <br /> Supervisor Zehr announced that he had to leave the meeting, but <br /> <br />expressed the desire that the County Board and City Council would <br /> decide to have the City Manager and County Administrator meet in <br /> ordertO discuss the entire EMS issue, especially the hiring of a <br /> Training Coordinator. Supervisor Moran suggested that Supervisor <br /> Zehr put this in the form of a motion, but Supervisor Zehr declined <br /> <br /> to do so and .left the meeting, : .... : i..' : <br /> <br />Chairman Scott introduced Mr. Claude A. Cobler, President of the <br />Associations of Henry County and Martinsville Rescue Squad. Mr. <br />Cobler said that a response from the four squads as to the EMS <br />study's recommendations had been included in the agenda packet for <br />this meeting. Mr. Cobler said that the problems faced by .the <br />rescue squads were not unique to Martinsville and Henry County, but <br />were being faced by squads throughout Virginia. Mr. Cobler said <br />that the rescue squads had prioritized their recommendations in <br />order to assist the Board of Supervisors and City Council in making <br />their decisions. Mro Coblet stated the squads were aware of the <br />scarce budgetary resources available for this problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Cobler said the squads' main priorities were the hiring of a <br />paid Training Coordinator and a paid Recruiting Coordinator. Mr. <br />Cobler then highlighted the increased training efforts which the <br />squads are currently implementing and other efforts which the <br />squads are working on in order to implement some of the changes <br />which were recommended by the EMS study. <br /> <br /> <br />
