TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1991 <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City-of Martins~'ille, <br />Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held on Tuesday, December <br />17, 1991, at 7:00 p.m., in the Circuit Court Room, City Hall, to consider the <br />City's solid waste needs. All members of Council were present: Allan <br />McClain, Mayor; Alfred T. Groden, Vice-Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr.; L. D. <br />Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />Following the invocation and the Mayor's welcoming comments, the Mayor <br />explained that the purpose of the meeting was to inform the public and the <br />Council through a report by the Acting City Manager and supplementary <br />information from representatives of Chambers Development Company'and Joyce <br />Engineering regarding the City's solid waste needs. The Mayor also pointed <br />out that Council was not seeking opinions or recommendations regarding the <br />Solid waste matter. <br /> <br />After introducing Greg Rosser, Judy Napier and Jeff Meredith from Chambers <br />Development COmpany; and Leonard E. "Butch" Joyce and Mark Taylor from Joyce <br />Engineering, Acting City Manager Lance G. Heater gave a visual presentation <br />regarding the City's options pertaining to Solid Waste Disposal. Mr. Heater <br />began by reviewing the City's existing Solid Waste Collection and Disposal <br />System and the current rates and actual costs of the provision of those <br />services as follows: <br /> <br />Current Solid Waste Costs (Collection and Disposal) <br />°Residential Rate = $4.00/mo. <br /> Actual Cost = $4.12/mo. <br /> <br />.Commercial Rate = $6.00/container <br /> Actual Cost = $7.71/cont. total <br /> <br />.Industrial Rate = $0.50/cubic yard or $6.67/ton <br /> Actual Cost = $6.71/ton <br /> <br /> <br />
