TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 1998 <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor <br /> <br />Mark A. Crabtree presiding, was held Tuesday, August 25, 1998, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Cotmcil were present: Dr. Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; <br />M. Gene Teague, Vice-Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H.T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell and Terry <br />L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Mayor Crabtree, the Mayor extended a cordial welcome to all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />Council first considered approval of the minutes of its regular meeting on August 11, 1998. <br />Council Member Haskell asked that the minutes be amended by adding, "and that these were the only <br />'costs not included in the $9.1 million budget figure approved." to the statement on the budget for the <br />Albert Harris School Project on page 122 of the minutes. Mayor Crabtree asked that the word <br />"scheduling" be used to replace the word "schedule" on page 123. Council Member Dallas asked that a <br />correction be made on page 125, to correct the title oflMx. Tony Millher to that of Chairman of the Youth <br />Committee of the Sportsmans Club. Upon motion by Council Member Teague, second by Council <br />Member Haskell, and unanimous vote (5-Ayes Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Haskell and Roop; 0-Nayes), <br />the August 11, 1998, minutes were approved as mended. <br /> <br />Council next considered Business from the floor. There was none. <br /> <br /> Council next considered adoption, on second reading, of Ordinance No. 98-10, to amend and <br />revise Appendix B (Zoning Ordinance) of the City Code pertaining to telecommunications. Council <br />Member Haskell asked City Planner Chris Whitlow whether any public comment had been received since <br />Council' s approval on first reading of the Ordinance, and was told that there had been none.
