<br />J78 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 9, 1955 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the COt1.OOil Chamber, City" <br />Hall, on Tuesday, August 9, 1955, at 7:30 P.M., the following meni>ers bei~ present: <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor and Councilman C. P. Craig; and <br /> <br />Councilmen B. H. Hill am W. T. Turner. Councilman J. R. Walker was absent. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held Ju~ 26, 1955, were approved as read. <br /> <br />In connection with a petition recently approved by the Planning Commission whereby <br />Lots 1-8 of Section IftJ" of the Lanier Farm Development 'WOuld be zoned as "B-1 <br /> <br />Business", 'Council ordered that a Public Hearing on t.his proposed rezoning be <br /> <br />conducted by the Council in the Circuit Courtroom of t.he Henry County Courthouse, <br />September 6, 1955, at 8:00 P.M., required notice of which to be given the public. <br />Council also tentatively planned to convene on that date at 7:30 P.M. in said <br /> <br />Courtroom for the transaction of any other business that might come before Couroil <br /> <br />inasmuch as the regular Council meeting scheduled for September 13th will not be <br /> <br />held in order that City" officials might attend the annual league meeting to be held <br /> <br />September 11 th-13 the <br /> <br />The following ordinance, as placed on first reading J~ 26, 1955, and amending <br /> <br />the City's Electrical Code, was unanimously approved and adopted: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of ~insville, in regular meeting <br />assembled this ninth day of August, 1955, that the Electrical Code of the <br />City of Martinsville, adopted August 14, 1951 and as amended, be amended as <br />follows : <br />
