<br />32 <br /> <br />'l'U ESDAY <br /> <br />DEC~ffiER 28. 1954 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, December 28, 1954, at 7:30 P.M., all members, as <br /> <br />follows, being present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; and Councilmen <br /> <br />C. P. Craig, B. H. Hill, W. T. Turner, and J. R. WaDcer. <br /> <br />Minutes of the Council meeting held December 17, 1954, upon being read, <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />were approved. <br /> <br />Through Mr. Robert H. May, Attorney-at-Law, Council received a petition <br /> <br />submitted jointly by Honorable Kennon C. Whittle and Lanier Farm, Inc. <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning from "A-I Residentialll to ltB_I Businessll that <br /> <br />~" <br />i~ <br />i <br /> <br />property described as lots #l through #8 of Section IIJtI as shown on Lanier <br /> <br />Farm, Inc. map recorded in the City Circuit Court Clerk's office on September <br /> <br />9, 1947. This petition was referred to the Planning Cow1ission for its <br /> <br />consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />An ordinance amending the City's Street Code and the Planning & Zoning Code, <br /> <br />regulating driveway entrances and curb cuts-and as placed on first reading <br /> <br />by Council in its meeting of December 17, 1954--upon motion, duly seconded, <br /> <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />In connection with the current re-appraisal and re-assessment of local real <br /> <br />estate, announcement was made of the appointment of }lessTs. S. M. Hedgecock, <br /> <br />J. E. Jones, and F. V. Woodson as the City's Board of Equalization by <br /> <br />Judge John E. Hooker of the City Circuit Court. <br />
