<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 10. 1953 <br /> <br />",-- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, March 10, 1953, at 7:30 P.M., all members, as follows, <br /> <br />being present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett, and Councilmen C. P. Craig, <br /> <br />D. H. Goode, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />,........- <br /> <br />Minutes of the Council meeting held February 24, 1953, upon being read, were <br />approved . <br /> <br />The meeting covered herein by these minutes having been duly advertised as a <br /> <br />Public Hearing on the matter of rezoning from "A-l Residential" to "B-1 Business" <br /> <br />certain property on the East side of Cleveland Avenue between Starling Avenue and <br /> <br />~~ <br />ii <br />i <br /> <br />t1ulberry Street Extended, as recommended by the Planning Commission on February <br /> <br />10, 1953, Council proceeded to invite comments from any persons present in favor <br /> <br />or against said proposed rezoning, - objections being registered by Mr. S. Arthur <br /> <br />Hooker through his attorney, Mr. M. H. MacBryde, Jr. These gentlemen stated that <br /> <br />they had no objection to the rezoning of the Dr. John W. Clark property but that <br /> <br />they did object to rezoning the other property involved unless Mr. Hooker's <br /> <br />property on Mulberry Street Extended is also rezoned accordingly. There being <br /> <br />no other objections, upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council <br /> <br />went on record as accepting the Planning Commission's recommendation of February <br /> <br />10, 1953, and, furthermore, adopted the following ordinance (mnending the City's <br />Zoning Map and Code) effecting said recommendation: <br /> <br />(SEE INSERT) <br /> <br />,-.. <br />
