E. Stone, ,-rho presided in the absence of l.:ayor John vi. Shultz; and COlillcilmen Rives S. Bro,m, Jr., Thomas J. Burch, and Clarence C. Donavant. After the invocation, Council aDproved as read the minutes of its regu.lar meeting held Janmry "13, 1959. A proposed ordinance, as placed on first reading January 13, 1959, which would amend Section 18-3 of the City Code (pertaining to sel.ler connection regulations), was placed on second reading for further consideration at Council's next regular meeting. mi~g i~T: 16.\2'" "'Ii ,~ Council continued to its next regular meeting (February 10, 1959) further consideration, also, of the naming of nominees for appointment to the 1959 Board of Equalization and fi11ing impending vacancies on the Human Values Conrrnission. - Council acknov:ledged receipt of a letter dated January 19, 1959, from lfr. C. T. l.Jilliams, , Jr., President of Southv:estern Virginia Gas Company, indicating that after he and his associates have studied the sugi';ested gas franchise terms recently for\-Tarded by the City he '..JOuld accept Council's invitation to confer with the COlillcil on such franchise terms and cono.itions. Pursuant to a recent request from Councilman BraWl, City Hanager Eirst presenteo a report describing the City's motorized equipment and its usage.
