<br />352 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 26, 195e <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br />City Hall, 'fuesday, August 26, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, <br /> <br />viz., Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; <br /> <br />and Councilmen Clarence C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held August 12, 1958. <br /> <br />Pursuant to directions of Council from its August 12th meeting and to duly- <br /> <br />advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's recanmendations of August 12, 1958 pertaining to the proposed <br /> <br />rezoning from "A-1 Residential" to "B-1 Business" such property not already <br /> <br />so zoned and owned by Mr. Roy C. Stone and Nease, Wheeler, & Blackard, Inc., <br /> <br />on the east side of Brookdale and Church streets at their intersection. There <br /> <br />being no objections registered with Council, Council adopted--effective <br /> <br />immediately--the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map <br /> <br />to effe ct the requested rezoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of August, 1958, <br />that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be <br />and is hereby amended to provide that the property owned qy Mr. Roy <br />C. Stone and one lot owned by Nease, Wheeler, and Blackard, Inc., <br />located on the east side of Church and Brookdale Streets at or near <br />their intersection, not already zoned "B-1 fusinessfl, be and is <br />hereby zoned "B-1 Business", thus increasing the depth zoning from <br />150 feet to their back property lines of the property herein <br />described. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date <br />of passage. <br />
