352 TUESDAY AUGUST 26, 195e The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 'fuesday, August 26, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilmen Clarence C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting held August 12, 1958. Pursuant to directions of Council from its August 12th meeting and to duly- advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the Planning Commission's recanmendations of August 12, 1958 pertaining to the proposed rezoning from "A-1 Residential" to "B-1 Business" such property not already so zoned and owned by Mr. Roy C. Stone and Nease, Wheeler, & Blackard, Inc., on the east side of Brookdale and Church streets at their intersection. There being no objections registered with Council, Council adopted--effective immediately--the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map to effe ct the requested rezoning: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of August, 1958, that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be and is hereby amended to provide that the property owned qy Mr. Roy C. Stone and one lot owned by Nease, Wheeler, and Blackard, Inc., located on the east side of Church and Brookdale Streets at or near their intersection, not already zoned "B-1 fusinessfl, be and is hereby zoned "B-1 Business", thus increasing the depth zoning from 150 feet to their back property lines of the property herein described. An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date of passage.
