<br />310 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 13, 1958 <br /> <br />The regular semi-month];r meeting of '!he Council of the City of Martimville, Virginia, <br />with Mqyar John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />Tuesday, May 13, 1958, at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, as follows: Mayor <br />and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stom; and Councilmen <br />C. C. Donavant, B. H. Hill, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />Minutes of Council's regular meeting held April 22, 1958 and of the special meeting <br />held April 28, 1958 were approved as read. <br /> <br />By letter dated May 7, 1958 the State Water Control Board advised that, in view of <br />Coumil's action in authorizing the pre~ration of plans and specifications on the <br />proposed sewerage system improvements, it will not be necessary for City representa- <br />tives to appear before the Board at its forthcoming ~ 21st hearing. <br /> <br />At the request of Mayor Shultz, the matter of "community promotionn-development of <br /> <br />a chamber of commerce to attract industry-was continued to Council's next regular <br /> <br /> <br />meeting. <br /> <br />In response to Council's recent inquiries, the auditing firms of J. Carl Smith, CPA, <br />and Alvin J. Young, CPA, advised that, because of other canmitments, they would not <br />be interested in conducting the audit of the City's records for the fiscal year <br />ending June 30, 1958; however, the firms of Alexander Grant & Company and William Z. <br />Ford, CPA, indicated that they will accept the appointment if tendered. Council <br />continued this matter to its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />On behalf of George's, Incorporated, (Mr. George L. Nease, President), Attorney <br />Claude E. Taylor, Jr., filed with Council the fOllaring petition in connection with <br />the requested clooing and vacating of a portion of Sunset Drive, with supporting, <br />
