<br />4: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NJARCH .2.0.1. 1962 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick presiding in U18 absence of Mayor J. <br /> <br />FranIc 'Nilson, was held in tl:le Council Chanber, Tuesday, March 20, 1962, at <br /> <br />5:00 P.M., for the purpose of considering matters relating to the City's sewerage <br /> <br />system improvements program. Wi th 'tile exception of l!Iayor Wilson, all members of <br /> <br />Couocil were present, viz., Messrs. '7red T. Renick, Thomas J. Burch, E. E. Stone, <br /> <br />and Harr7 L. Boaz. <br /> <br />After the invocation, City Manager Hirst presented information, relating same to <br /> <br />a map of the area under diseussion, in the form of the following f1fa.ct sheetll: <br /> <br />Fact Sheet on Sewage Treatr:1ent Plant <br />March 20, 1962 <br /> <br />1. ProDosed relocation of treat'11ent plant. <br />Site now ovmed by City - <br />Located on south bank of Smith River, across River from Walker <br />Knit::;lng Co., and adjacent to N. & W. RaLlway and West Virginia <br />Pulp !it Paper Co. loading yard. <br /> <br />30 acres. <br /> <br />Bought from Hr. O. P. Hedgecock, January 19, 1960 for $22,500. <br />Includes 50 ft. right-of-way access to u. S. Route 220. <br /> <br />Proposed new site -- <br />Located south bank Smithi1.iver. <br />1.6 miles below or dONn stream from present site. <br />Landowner - T,T. George 'N.
